New arrivals to the farm.

The girls have arrived. Time to get ready for another show. We have 4 months but by the way time is flying it will be here before you know it. Time seems to be flying by these days.

I am having trouble posting, but I am still here.

Rainy day catch up on the animals.

Took the new poults out for the first time this weekend, They really enjoyed the sunshine but our cat, TinkerBell who is also new was wanting to "play" but they didn't want anything to do with her.

Went to do a head count on the cows, since it has been in the 90's they were scattered out in the woods.All were present and accounted for.

Jim is getting fat and sassy.

I think Sugar has forgotten she is a horse and thinks she is a cow now.

Bo and Dixie took a quick cool off in the creek.

Pebbles wanted a belly rub.

Tinkerbell always likes a close up.

Day 3 the hay is done!

Nothing looks better than the last load of hay in the field. 3 days and 387 bales later time for a break!

My daughter had the best time of all. She got to drive the truck for the first time in the hay field. I have a truck, but she hasn't mastered the clutch. Our friend Stan brought his truck ( which is an automatic) and trailer. Made things go alot faster. Between his truck and mine we had it in the barn in 2 1/2 hours.

Day 2, have you heard this story before?????

I cut the hay, I kick the hay, I rake the hay and tomorrow I will bale the hay. Does this remind you of the story, "The Little Red Hen"?  If you notice there are no pictures of me working, that is because I can not take pictures of myself. I am the "little red hen" who does all the work then at the end they all want to reap the rewards. Sorry about their luck, I am smarter than that. LOL

Memorial weekend the official kick off to hay season!

Well it has begun, hay season!

After. This is my first big field that I have cut myself using Homers mower. He made the first round to mark my boundaries then turned me loose. 6 hours later it was done.

Have you ever felt like you were going in circles and not getting anywhere? I did today. He usually doesn't want this much cut at one time, but we have 2 tractors now and hopefully it will speed things up. Homer isn't able to be out in the heat due to the medication he is on so this year I will be doing must of the cutting, raking and baling myself. Of course the weather man changed from a 3 day dry to possible shower forcast this evening. Lets' keep our fingers crossed I get it up. 

1st Day using baler

Here I am using the baler for the first time. I bought my own tractor, 230 Massey Ferguson and Homer has decided to hook everything to my tractor. He was actually surprised I knew how to use it, but I told him where do you think I have been for the last 40 plus years.

I got my feet wet on flat land , but we will see how the hills go this weekend. Stay tuned, may get interesting. 

WE'RE BACK !!!!!!!!!!

It's hard to believe  I have been gone for over a year now. Haven't really went any where just haven't had time to keep my blog updated. But I am now a "hi-speed redneck" lol. We finally moved out of the dial up world and into the fast lane. Although I would like for things to slow down. I still have the farm, we have lost some old friends and got a few new ones. Remember Bo?(The one on the left) He now has his first girlfriend, Dixie. We just got her a few months ago and they are the best of friends.

I am still in the turkey business, this is Bob. I have learned alot of new lessons in raising turkeys, first of all they are nosey and in to more than any 2 year old could ever imagine. I also have 2 hens and they are currently setting. I have 5 new poults that hatched last week, but the weather turned wet so we brought them inside and their mom went on the nest with the other hen.

The cows are all fat and sassy. I had just put out a new salt block and it was like kids in a candy store. I have 10 calves on the ground most were born in February than a few after that. I have 2 more to go but they won't come to fall.

 Pasture is looking great and we started cutting hay last week.This is going to be a whole new adventure for me. My dad has become ill and I have had to take over with running his equipment. He is still able to get out but can't be in the sun for long periods of time, just long enough to tell me what I'm doing wrong. LOL He was really surprised when I ran his mower and baler last week. He has given me clearance to hit the big field this weekend weather permitting so stay tuned for those updates, it could get real interesting.

I am still working a 40 hour week when I can and keeping up with the girls, so now you know where I have been. I hope I can keep you updated and would love to hear from some of my old friends. Hope you haven't forgot about me.

To all my blogging buds. I may have to give up my sight for now. Just not enough hours in the day. I still have all of my animals but trying to work a forty hour week and keep up with 2 kids that want to be in sports and the farm work is running me a little short on time. Thanks for all of you wonderful comments and tips I will still be following you in your adventures but for now I will have to wait until I can find some time to just sit down before I can even think about keeping up with my blog. It has been fun and interesting and I have met some new friends along the way so it has all been worth while. Good bye for now.

Wow! It's been awhile. Where does time go?????

I can't believe how far I have fallen behind with keeping my site up to date. So much has happened but I am still in the land of dial up so I will just have to give you a quick catch up.

We lost our gobbler, but  still have 3 Bourbon Red Hens that are in need of a Gobbler BAD. Anytime you walk by them they lay down and spread out. If you know anyone who knows where I can get an adult Bourbon Red Gobbler please let me know.  

 
As you can see the girls are ready to pop. Four are due to come this month and four are due a little later.

If you haven't kept up with me I am back to working a 40hour week office job.It hasn't been too bad so far but when the sun comes out it might get a little tough. The cost of feed and gas is passing the income of farming and I am sure I am not the only one who has had to make changes in their lives. I have been stopping by and trying to keep up with everyone but there just doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day.Hope everyone has been well and I will try to get back as soon as I can.
